Bob Sundeen - Wilderness Outfitter
Josh Martoglio, under permit from the USDA Forest Service, operates Trails West Outfitters, LLC in the Shoshone National Forest, offering wilderness summer pack/fishing trips and fall hunting trips.

Trails West Outfitters, LLC offers Wyoming big game hunting, fishing and pack trips in the breathtaking country of the Absaroka Mountains. We will be most happy to assist you with your transportation once you have reached Wyoming.  We can make arrangements to pick you up at the Cody, Wyoming Airport, or meet you in Meeteetse.

Your wilderness experience starts from Meeteetse, Wyoming and you will travel by vehicle to the trailhead.  From there, you will ride horseback three-four hours through the Greybull River Valley to reach one of our base camps.  Here, true camp life begins. Our comfortable camps will provide camp-cooked meals, in our large, comfortable cooking and dining tents.  You will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while viewing the wildlife, scenery and the beautiful Absaroka Mountains. If you require a special diet, please let us know in advance. Your camp experience will offer abundant wildlife viewing, great fishing, hunting and fresh mountain air. Your time with Trails West Outfitters will truly be one you won't forget.

Hunting

Our camps are located in the Washakie Wilderness 40 miles west of Meeteetse, Wyoming. We operate the only Outfitter Base Camps located in the Greybull River Valley.  From the Jack Creek Trailhead, we ride by horseback out to one of our base camps. With a 3 to 4 hour ride, we are usually in camp by mid afternoon. Meals are served family style and prepared by our camp cook.  Your mountain experience will include cots with foam pads in roomy, heated wall tents.  You can rest assured we use only well-trained and experienced mountain horses to negotiate the winding and sometimes steep and rocky trails.

Our crew consists of true cowboys that will guide you on the hunt of your dreams. Western hospitality is not only our motto but a way of life for us.  You can hunt Antelope, Black Bear, Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Mountain Lion, Mule Deer, and Moose.

We recommend Dewey Wildlife Studios, LLC and Mountain Valley Artistry for your professional taxidermy needs. These businesses strive to provide professional service from the mountain to your individual setting.

ELK. Over the years, both our elk hunting base camps have enjoyed a 98%+ success rate.  We have great habitat and our elk numbers continue to be strong.

Following an early pre-dawn breakfast, your day will begin by riding out on horses and mules to gain elevation to glass and hunt elk.  You will return in the evening to the comfortable base camps for a hearty mountain dinner and a round of camp discussion about your day’s hunting experience.  Once you have successfully hunted your elk, our guides will quarter and pack your game to the trailhead and will help make arrangements if necessary, to transport your meat for processing.

BIGHORN SHEEP.  With spectacular Bighorn Sheep habitat, Wyoming offers premier hunting opportunity for sheep hunters. In addition to our base camps, we operate spike camps for Bighorn Sheep hunting in Areas 1 – 5.   Our experienced guides will assist our sheep hunters in locating sheep in the rugged terrain above 8,500 feet.   Once you have drawn your coveted sheep tag, our  guides and crew will do everything they can to assist our sheep hunters in achieving the trophy of a lifetime. Our current hunter success rate for Bighorn Sheep is 98%+ with 100% opportunity.

We also hunt antelope, black bear, mountain lion, mule deer and mountain goat.

Summer Fishing/Pack Trips

The fishing and pack trips we provide, offer a great wilderness experience for everyone.  The Greybull River is known as a Blue Ribbon Trout River, providing  excellent native Yellowstone Cutthroat trout for the adventurous fly fisherman.  Within a short distance from one of our base camps, fly fisherman can be wetting flies in great pools and structured stream habitat located on the Greybull River.  Fully outfitted pack trips into the wilderness mountain area can be enjoyed by anyone in good health regardless of riding ability.

Groups of 6 to 12 guests enable us to give our undivided attention to individual interests. Besides fishing, activities include wildlife photography, riding, hiking or stepping back in time to ride and view the vistas of the historical country of the Greybull River.

We can assist you in designing a wilderness trip for the entire family.  Trails West Outfitters will share our special part of the world with you, to help you make your memories of a lifetime!
