chapter for the 2016 season is now closed for TRAILS WEST OUTFITTERS.
We would like to take this opportunity to look back on our year and
reflect on the outstanding fly fishing trips, pack trips and fall
goes without saying, we experience some of the most outstanding fly
fishing in the Greater Yellowstone Area, on the Greybull River. The
comfortable base camp and close proximity of the camp to the
Greybull River provided maximum time on the water. We enjoyed a
number of family and group adventures who made memories for a
lifetime. They enjoyed riding the high country vistas viewing
wildlife, wildflowers and in general just spending time in a
comfortable camp setting that provided dramatic sunrises and

elk numbers on the Greybull River continue to be strong and we
average a 75% - 90% success rate with 100% opportunity for our
hunters. We continue to see and have the opportunity to hunt
mature, quality bulls in our hunt areas. The high country of the
Greybull River is an outstanding area for Bighorn Sheep hunting and
we were pleased with the quality of the sheep that our hunters took
home. It goes without saying, our success is due to the
professional and talented guides, camp cooks and staff who continue
to provide top notch guiding and assistance in making our wilderness
camps the best to be found. Thank you to the crew of TRAILS

was a year of milestones for Trails West Outfitters. This year was
the 30th year of outfitting for Bob. Over the years, many wonderful
clients have become life-long friends. As the years have passed, we
realized what an opportunity we have been blessed with. We have
often referred to the Stuart Creek camp as an “Office With a
View”. It truly can’t get any better when you are in the
mountains! The years of operation included the Deer Lake Camp and
Gem Lake Camp in the Bighorns and the Stuart Creek and Anderson
camps located on the Greybull River.
Although the journey
was not always easy, it was always rewarding. We shared many laughs
over dinner about phenomenal fly fishing days….the struggles and
triumphant victory of successfully hunting wild sheep...and
outstanding stalks and the taking of trophy elk.
At this point in our
Camp Report it is time to announce that we have sold the Trails West
Outfitters outfitting business. We could not be more pleased that
Josh Martoglio and Cole and Elaine Benton, will be taking the reins
for the outfitting camps on the Greybull River. They bring years of
outfitting experience to this new venture. They have extensive
experience in big game hunting and summer pack trips.
Once again, we would
like to take this opportunity to thank all of our past clients for
their commitment and dedication over the years to our outfitting
business and for the many friendships that we have formed. We
also wish to congratulate Josh, Cole and Elaine for continuing the
legacy of Outfitting on the Greybull River.
