Dear Bob,
First I would like to thank you for the greatest Elk hunt I have ever been on. I would also like to say Happy New Year to you, and your family and your organization.
Being an older hunter, you always worry about your ability to keep up with the other hunters, and perform well in camp for the outfitter. I knew I had my younger brother Joe along to help me, but you always think on the negative side of things, like will I be able to get on the horse, ride the ride, make a good shot. If I did kill a bull Elk, would I be able to quarter it, and get it back to camp properly. All that started to leave me when we first drove into the trailhead and saw how well organized Bob Sundeen was. The horses and mules looked top notch, and then to watch his guides get everything ready, and pack the animals. I knew I was in good hands. The ride to camp was breathtaking, all the stock performed well, and some of the fears left me. The camp area was already setup, and our wonderful cook was anxious to please us with a meal fit for a King. The first day of Elk hunting was the following morning. Our guides took an evening ride to scout the area, we stayed in camp to enjoy the camp fire, and fellowship. The next morning started the greatest hunt my brother and I have ever been on. Everything was ready, and well planned by our guide Dusty. He took us to places I didn't think a horse could go. After two hours of riding in the dark, he finally said this is where we will hunt. We waited for the sun to rise, he said one of you get ready to shoot. Buy 9:00 AM, my brother, and I had killed two big bull Elk. Dusty did everything for us, even got the ivory teeth for us. He said let us ride back to camp, and I will get another guide, and some pack animals to get the Elk back to camp. Does it get any better than that?
I would recommend this outfitter (Trails West Outfitters) to a man of any age. Thanks again Bob, and Dusty.
Always a friend, Dick Larrick.
